AWS End User Messaging and Amazon SES

AWS's messaging building blocks: SMS, voice messages, WhatsApp, RCS and push through End User Messaging, and email through Amazon SES.

Low-level, pay-per-use sending APIs for teams already building on AWS.

AWS End User Messaging is the July 2024 name for Amazon Pinpoint's SMS, MMS, push and text-to-voice capabilities, with WhatsApp offered as End User Messaging Social; Amazon SES handles transactional and bulk email. They are separate services with separate prices inside one AWS account. Worth a look when you want raw sending at cloud prices and will build consent, journeys and reporting yourself or elsewhere.

Where it shines

  • SMS, WhatsApp, push and email inside the AWS account you already run
  • Published per-message pricing, with Meta's WhatsApp fee shown separately
  • Delivery, bounce and complaint events for email through SES event publishing

Check before signing

  • Amazon Pinpoint's campaigns, journeys and segments end on 30 October 2026; plan where those will live
  • SMS is billed per attempt and varies by country and carrier
